Tina Burian (She/Her/Hers)

Tina has been providing therapy in Fort McMurray for more than 20 years. She has extensive training and a passion for helping individuals resolve trauma, both historical and recent, using various modalities including play based therapy. At the core of her work is bearing witness to someone’s story with understanding and using evidence-based practices to help the person on their path to health and healing.

Tina is a Registered Social Worker with the Alberta College of Social Work. She graduated in 2003 with a Master’s Degree of Social Work, with a focus in clinical practice, from Wilfred Laurier University. Tina has provided therapy throughout the region with an unwavering drive to provide services that are uniquely tailored to the needs of the person. She has worked with individuals, children and couples in various settings. Her practice is centered on the belief that each person is the expert of their life and holds an innate ability to heal. She believes that a therapist is a guide that provides a safe and structured environment to aid and grow their innate ability to flourish. Her history and interest in helping people heal and move past their trauma is at the core of her work and continuing education. 

Tina has a deep passion for working with the roots of the issues that continue to drive the day to day issues or patterns that come up in people’s lives. She often explains that we can mow down the dandelions and it can leave the garden clean and healthy for a while, but it is the roots that are deep and strong it is those that need tending to. By tending to the roots the day to day patterns have lasting changes.

Fun Facts:  When Tina is not working, spending time with her family or navigating her two goofy dogs, she is most likely dreaming of travelling, planning travel or organizing pictures from her last trip.
