Shelby Weiss belongs to Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation in Treaty 8, Alberta and is a Yorkville University graduate with a Master's degree in Counselling Psychology. Shelby is committed to providing culturally safe care by fostering an inclusive therapeutic environment that values and respects diverse identities while exploring and understanding each individual's unique lived experience to promote healing and growth.
Shelby started working with YMM Collaborative Practice as a practicum student in 2024. She has experience working with Indigenous clients and enjoys working with young adults. Shelby is empathetic and connects with Indigenous clients through her lived experience, offering dedicated support as they navigate their healing journey.
Through an integrated, relationship-centered approach, Shelby is passionate about supporting clients in discovering their inner strengths, healing past wounds, and creating a life that aligns with their hopes and aspirations.
Fun Facts: Since graduating in April, Shelby has rekindled her love for reading, especially romantasy books. She's captivated by heart-wrenching apocalyptic stories like The Last of Us (TV), The Marrow Thieves (book), and Moon of the Crusted Snow (book). Alongside her love for books, Shelby enjoys watching competition and dating reality TV shows. When she's not reading or watching TV, she's an avid traveler and hiker who also expresses her creativity through contemporary beadwork.
